Aleksandra Brzemia-Bonarek

John Paul II in Krakow

Aleksandra Brzemia-Bonarek is a lecturer at the Faculty of Canon Law at the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow and serves as an ecclesiastical judge at the Metropolitan Tribunal in Katowice. 

Since 2018, she has been a member of the Dicastery for Laity, Family, and Life, alongside her husband, Piotr. In 2023, she joined the canon lawyers’ team of the St Joseph Foundation of the Polish Episcopal Conference. In 2024, she was appointed by Bishop Artur Ważny to investigate sensitive cases that have emerged in the Diocese of Sosnowiec as part of the ‘Clarification and Repair’ Commission. 

She specialises in matrimonial procedural law, the rights of the faithful to active participation in the sacramental life of the Church, and the protection of minors and vulnerable individuals from sexual abuse in the Church.
