Alicja Maślak-Maciejewska works in the Institute of Jewish Studies, Jagiellonian University. She researches the history of Jews in Central Europe in the 19th century, particularly the modernization of religious life, social history and the history of education. She authored several books including the biography of progressive rabbi Szymon Dankowicz (2012); monograph on Kraków progressive synagogue Tempel (2018). Her habilitation book (2005), entitled “Poza chederem. Żydzi w galicyjskiej szkole publicznej” is devoted to the education of Galician Jewry.
