I am the founder and director of the project ‘Religion and Ethics in the Shaping of War and Peace’ and a research fellow at the School of Theology. My teaching focuses on all aspects of the relationship between ethics and religion in the context of war and peacebuilding, and also covers Judaism and Jewish history, as well as current issues relating to the Arab-Israeli conflict and the peace process.
My earliest academic studies were in medieval and modern history; I subsequently moved into the history of political and ethical thought, focusing on a range of topics related to the history of encounters between Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Between 2005 and 2010, I was a research fellow at St Edmund’s College, Cambridge. I have lectured at the universities of Cambridge, Edinburgh, Leuven and Birmingham.
